St. Charles Preschool

At St. Charles preschoolers have the opportunity to build skills in the five developmental areas: Social, Emotional, Cognitive, Physical and Creative.

Building social skills, specifically getting along with others, may be the most important skill that children bring to Kindergarten. Learning to express one’s feelings is another vital skill, as well as solving problems as they arise.

Cognitive skids are thinking skills and general knowledge. During our preschool hours children are given many opportunities to begin learning about science, math, social studies and language.

Outdoor play builds children’s physical fitness. Enabling children to play games with others and master large muscle movements, strengthens both the child’s self-esteem and their friendships. Fine motor skills are developed through a variety of activities, such as stringing beads, sewing cards, crayons, scissors and puzzles

Music singing, art and dramatics are parts of our curriculum that provide for many creative experiences, encouraging children to use their creativity and imagination.

Our teachers and staff selected to teach and work with the children are committed to our Christian philosophy. Our teachers have Early Childhood Education degrees. Special Education Certificates, as well as many years of teaching experience. Developmentally Appropriate Practices are followed according to the National Association for the Education of Young Children guidelines. Our teachers welcome each child as an individual and will attempt to meet his/her special needs. Our staff wants your child’s stay to be a happy, pleasant experience.

St Charles Preschool is recognized as an approved Field Site for Spokane Falls Community College. Students in the Early Childhood Education program perform their Field Practicum hours to our preschool classrooms. .

1 large backpack

2 cans shaving cream and 1 washcloth

1 box gallon Ziploc bags (A-L last name)

1 box sandwich Ziploc bags (M-Z last name)

4pk AA batteries (A-L last name)

2pk C batteries (M-Z last name)

1 spray bottle Clorox hard surface spray

1 container Clorox wipes

1 disposable camera

1 crib sheet, 1 small blanket, small pillow

 with zip bag to store in (all day children only)

1 folder, horizontal pockets

1 Extra change of clothes (in zip bag)
