The job of a Sacristan is a very important and detailed job. It is taking care of the very vessels that have held the body and blood of our Lord, Jesus Christ. The job entails:

1.      Cleaning the chalice and patten in a very particular way, as to honor the fact that there may be small fragments of the body or blood left on them.

2.      Setting the table for the next mass. Counting out the hosts and placing them on the the large patten, setting the holy water and dish where it belongs, etc.

3.      Making sure there is the right amount of purificators (the napkins that the Eucharistic Ministers use to wipe the chalice)

As you can see this job is not demanding, it is an honor. This is a commitment of about fifteen to twenty minutes after mass. If you would like to learn more about this ministry, please contact Fr. Tom at 327-9573
